Why is Porcelain used for veneers?

Porcelain is extremely biologically compatible in the oral cavity. Unlike metal, it will not rust or corrode over time. Since it is a glass, it is smooth and translucent. It is the translucency that allows light to pass through the material making it look vital and life like. Porcelain comes in many different shades and variations and can be combined to create the perfect color for your individual teeth. These factors and others combine to make porcelain the most popular restorative material for creating the beautiful esthetics that porcelain veneers provide.
